I’m sure a myriad of people have asked you the above question. You can’t go many places without someone talking about Zodiac signs and horoscopes. They’re literally everywhere—newspapers, magazines, mini—books, and other publications. You can probably remember times you spent reading your horoscope, hoping to discover something about your future. You’ve heard theories about particular Zodiac signs on songs, in movies, on the radio, etc. Now you may ask, “What’s wrong with it? It’s all just fun.”
Have you noticed that people who live by horoscopes never have any real results from them? The origin of astrology can be traced back to ancient Babylonia. The earliest extant of Babylonian astrology text is the Enuma Anu Enlil, referring to false gods Anu and Enlil (Wikipedia). Although the Babylonians have influenced our current culture, many of their customs involved the worship of other gods; using science, signs, and wonders as a means of explaining the complexities of the universe.
The Bible describes how God’s people got involved in idolatry and witchcraft because it was popular. Witchcraft is trying to obtain God’s promises through an avenue other than the Word. Christians have adopted this custom because they haven’t read the Bible to find out how they can receive the promises of God. As a result, they look for other ways to achieve what they want.
If you’re a Believer who dabbles in the world of horoscopes, turn away from it, and make a change today! Don’t get involved in the witchcraft of today’s world. Renew your mind with the Word of God, and allow that to be the driving force of your future.
These are things we must do in order to grow spiritually. We have to make a decision to live by the Word of God, and avoid other avenues to get the good things He has planned for us. He has a purpose and plan for your life, and there’s no sign that can predict your future. You can’t get that information from anyone except God, who created all things.
Astrology will never tell you your unique purpose. So the next time someone asks you, “What’s your sign?,” tell them, I define myself as a Christian, not by the alignment of the stars. My identity comes from the One who created the stars!
